The Parish Council meets on the second Tuesday of each month except August, at 7.30pm in the Village Hall. It is looking to co-opt a new councillor, as Cllr Edwards has moved out of the village. Details about the role are on the council website www.raintonparishcouncil.gov.uk. Training will be available!

To qualify to become a Parish Councillor you must
be a British citizen, or a citizen of the Republic of Ireland, an eligible Commonwealth citizen, a qualifying EU citizen or an EU citizen with retained rights, and be over 18 yrs old.
In addition you must meet at least one of the following:
- be listed on the current electoral roll
- have lived in the Parish of Rainton with Newby or within three miles of its boundary for the whole of the past twelve months
- occupied as owner/tenant any land/premises therein during the whole of the past twelve months
- or have had a principal place of work within the Parish for the whole of the past twelve months.
You must not be disqualified from holding office as a Councillor, under the terms of the 1972 Local Government Act.
